Publication created to get more people into the game, keep them playing longer
WINDERMERE, Fla. — The look of golf is changing. With physical fitness programs set forth by Tiger Woods and Annika Sorenstam, both men’s and women’s professional golf has gone on a fitness regimen. It’s time for the rest of the golf public—the people who really need it to get on board. Golf Fitness Magazine is stepping to the forefront to lead golfers from all generations to a happier, healthier and longer golf life.
Buoyed by the success of a regional launch in the spring of 2007, Founder and Publisher Steve Gomen is taking the magazine national this July.
"Look at the numbers," says Gomen. "Of the 25 million golfers we will be reaching out to, 70 percent are ailing or playing with an injury. Sixty percent cannot physically make the proper body movement that will allow a mechanically correct swing. The 40 percent of this group that already possess the physical ability, would be interested in gaining more yards, more control, more endurance and becoming physically conditioned to play safer and longer.
"No less than 35 percent are already avid with their fitness, health and wellness," Gomen adds. "Research suggests that the remaining group of golfers, when introduced and educated about the topic, will want to participate as well. We will be the guide for all golfers to optimize their physical abilities and enjoy the game for a complete lifetime."
Because of the potential impact Golf Fitness Magazine will have on both the golf public and golf industry, Gomen has established an advisory board of experts in both the fitness and golf industries to form and editorial direction for Golf Fitness Magazine. In addition, he has developed a staff of award-winning writers and editors to make this editorial direction come to fruition.
"By and large, golf is an individual game, but in order to put out a groundbreaking magazine, it takes a well-rounded team of experts in all realms of publishing to produce a golf fitness magazine of the magnitude we want," explains Gomen.
Golf Fitness Magazine, while dealing with strengthening the human body through exercise and nutrition, deals with the mental aspects of the game as the advisory and editorial boards will apprise readers of possible psychological, mental control exercises as well as the power of hypnotherapy.
"We leave no area of golf fitness untouched," says Gomen. "In addition to the fitness aspect, we will add to the reader’s experience with relevant historical articles that deal with the special traditions of the game and through our articles allow them to discover special, mystical travel destinations."
