The First Tee of Chicago, a 501 (c)(3) organization, was founded in 2000 through the efforts of Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley and KemperSports Chairman and CEO Steve Lesnik. The Chicago chapter and its accompanying programs are among the most successful in the nation, touching more than 18,000 children annually. In 2007, The First Tee of Chicago will offer more than 250 junior golf clinics and programs to area youth while affording them the opportunity to develop, through golf and character education, life-enhancing values such as honesty, integrity and sportsmanship. During KemperSports’ 14-year tenure as manager of the Chicago Park District golf facilities, three First Tee facilities – Douglas Park, Marquette Park and South Shore Learning Centers – were created.
