PLANO, TEXAS, June 7, 2007 -Adams Golf (OTCBB:ADGO) announces the signing of Tommy "Two Gloves" Gainey, the mini-tour star who gained reality TV fame on The Golf Channel’s "The Big Break IV: USA vs. Europe" and "The Big Break VII: Reunion."
Gainey will play Adams Golf equipment, carry the Tour staff bag and wear the company’s logo on his hat. The hard-swinging, easy-going 31-year-old from Bishopville, S.C., recently accepted a sponsor’s exemption to play in the BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs and was one shot off the lead entering the final round. He also was a Monday Qualifier for the PGA TOUR’s Wachovia Championship in May. He has spent most of his 10-year pro golf career on the Tarheel, Gateway and Hooters Tours.
"We welcome Tommy to our Tour Staff. We’re not just adding a Reality Show contestant to our staff, he’s a proven champion and has the game to be successful at every level," said Chip Brewer, Adams Golf CEO and president. "His story of going from a minimum wage job at a water heater factory to winning multiple times on the mini tours is great for the game of golf. He’s a true southern gentleman who worked hard and earned his way into the hearts of his many fans, including us."
The "Two Gloves" nickname was given to Gainey because he wears a golf glove on each hand, even when he putts. He also uses an unorthodox ten-finger baseball grip and has a reputation for hitting big drives – at the BMW Charity Pro-Am in May he averaged 312 yard drives. Along with winning "The Big Break VII", Gainey was victorious at the 2007 Tarheel Tour Oldfield Open, 2006 Tarheel Tour Patriots Point Open and the River Run Classic.
