Designer Jim Engh offers thrilling design for Reynolds Plantation’s first members-only golf course
Greensboro, Ga. (June 8, 2007) – Reynolds Plantation’s fifth and newest golf course officially debuted June 1, welcoming members and their guests to a stunning Jim Engh design.
The Creek Club at Reynolds Plantation is a fun, contemporary layout with features like Engh’s signature rolling bunkers, Zoysia grass fairways and tributaries of Richland Creek, whose waters come into play on 14 holes. These holes demand forced carries on eight holes, either off the tee or from the fairway. Distinctive bunkering complements the terrain and impacts shot values, and together with four sets of tees, which can alter holes by as much as 160 yards, they ensure a tough but fair challenge on this 7,079-yard, par-72 course.
A unique 18th hole completes the experience, offering three separate greens. Players are then welcomed with the sight of the new clubhouse, which will house a pro shop and a "crow’s nest" style restaurant that will accommodate guests with savory grilled fare. For now, players can visit the newly-opened, temporary pro shop outfitted in the luxurious, rustic style of The Creek Club, until the clubhouse opens in mid-2007.
"The visual aspects of the golf course and the use of this unique piece of property will be regarded as a remarkable golf course now and in the future," Bob Mauragas, vice president of golf operations at Reynolds Plantation. "We will exceed our members’ expectations every time, whether with the Zoysia grass that allows the ball to sit up nicely—and which provides a great contrast on the fairways—or with the impeccable service that awaits our members in the clubhouse."
