U.S. Open Runner-Up Plays Adams Hybrids and Fairway Wood
PLANO, TEXAS, June 18, 2007 – Adams Golf continued its reign as the hybrid leader on the Nationwide Tour last week having 73 of its hybrids played by the pros at the Showdown at Somerby, according to the Darrell Survey. With the next closest competitor only having 29 of its hybrids in play, by comparison, Adams Golf accounted for a staggering 45% of the total hybrids in play at the event.
The Showdown at Somerby marked the 26th consecutive Nationwide Tour event, dating back to Aug. 20, 2006, that Adams Golf hybrids have ranked #1 on the equipment count. So far in 2007, a total of 1,095 Adams Golf hybrids have been put in play at the 15 tournaments compared to 469 hybrids from the next closest competitor. The only other equipment category with such a dominant leader is the ball category.
Following the incredible performance at the Rex Hospital Open two weeks ago when 8 players in the Top 10 played at least one Idea Pro hybrid, three of the Top 5 players at the Showdown at Somerby had an Idea Pro in his bag. "Our success on the Nationwide Tour is a combination of having a high-performance product and tremendous word of mouth between the players," said Max Puglielli, director of Adams Golf tour operations. "These guys saw the success the others were having week after week with our hybrids last year, especially the Idea Pro, and before you know it, we’re now building hybrids for nearly half the field at every event. If there’s a club that will make their game better, then they want it in their bag and our hybrids do just that."
U.S. OPEN
The second-place finisher at the 107th U.S. Open is well-known for his accuracy and shot-making ability, and he didn’t disappoint last week. His equipment arsenal for the very demanding Oakmont Country Club consisted of, among other clubs, two Idea Pro hybrids (18 and 22-degree) and the new Insight BTY 3-wood.
