Cabrera Captures U.S. Open Playing New Pro V1x for first Major Crown.
Fairhaven, MA (June 18, 2007) – Oakmont Country Club played as tough as predicted. Yet Angel Cabrera proved tougher, trusting his New Pro V1x golf ball to win the U.S. Open. Displaying talent, power and resolve, Cabrera closed with a fearless final round 69 to secure his first major championship and first PGA Tour victory. His win follows Titleist ambasssador Zach Johnson’s major breakthrough at the Masters and marks the 90th for Titleist across the 2007 worldwide professional tours, more than 8 times the nearest competitor. And with 107 players, compared to 16 for the nearest competitor, Titleist was the #1 played ball at the U.S. Open for the 59th consecutive year, the longest running success story in golf.
Continued proof that when performance matters most, and in golf’s toughest tests, most of the world’s best trust Titleist.
Cabrera’s win was one of five this week as Titleist swept through the worldwide tours. In fact, the Pro V1 or Pro V1x has now been played to win 986 events across the worldwide professional tours since its tour introduction in October of 2000.
