Golfweek’s Best Residential Golf Courses to be published in The Wall Street Journal
ORLANDO, Fla., (June 18, 2007) – Golfweek today announced a marketing partnership with The Wall Street Journal that will publish the 2007 Golfweek’s Best Residential Golf Courses rankings. The special advertising section will appear in the October 27 Weekend Edition of The Wall Street Journal, and the rankings and accompanying golf course community videos will appear on RealEstateJournal.com.
The 2007 report, which showcases the 100 highest ranked residential golf courses, will appear in over 1.7 million copies of The Wall Street Journal’s Weekend Edition within its "Pursuits" section. Golfweek’s architectural editor and Golfweek’s Best program director, Bradley S. Klein will explain the rankings and the evaluation criteria. The list will also be featured in Golfweek’s Best Residential & Resort Golf Courses: The Definitive Guide to the Golf Lifestyle that will publish Nov. 1, 2007.
The Journal has been steadily increasing its business of life coverage since the launch of The Wall Street Journal’s Weekend Edition in Sept. 2005. The Golf Journal Column launched last year in the Journal’s Weekend Edition as part of the expanded sports coverage. The column, written by John Paul Newport, covers a wide range of topics, from analyzing your swing to the business of golf. Additionally, The Journal Report, published every Monday in the Online Journal, recently ran a special golf edition that included articles, video and podcasts.
"This marketing partnership is a perfect fit as The Wall Street Journal and Golfweek subscribers share a common demographic profileÂåÂ. They are both read by opinion leaders and influencers on and off the course," said Michael Rooney, chief revenue officer and senior vice president for The Wall Street Journal.
"We’ve known for years that top rated residential golf courses command higher lot premiums, membership fees and create more demand in a golf course community. Basically, a Golfweek’s Best golf course ranking moves real estate," said Terry Olson, vice president and publisher of Golfweek. "I cannot think of a better media partner in the real estate vertical than The Wall Street Journal and we are very excited about the significant impact that will result from this exposure. This partnership will certainly create a strong marketing opportunity for residential golf course developers."
Rooney added, "We will also publish the list on RealEstateJournal.com with links to GolfweekHomes.com. Bundling print with online video, readers can take a video tour of participating residential real estate golf course communities. With this partnership, The Wall Street Journal and Golfweek will deliver a unique experience that extends beyond the printed page."
Golfweek’s Best Residential & Resort Golf Courses annual is mailed to all Golfweek subscribers and this year will be available in limited supply to Wall Street Journal subscribers who go to RealEstateJournal.com and request a copy.
