Gaylord MI (June 21, 2007) – The Gaylord Golf Mecca, located in the heart of northern Michigan, is now in its 20th year as a top golfing destination. In conjunction with celebrating the destinations 20th anniversary, the Gaylord Golf Mecca has launched a new logo and branding campaign promoting the area as "America’s Summer Golf Mecca".
The Gaylord Golf Mecca members spent the previous six-months with Tandem Design out of Traverse City, Michigan developing a brand document and logo concepts, as well as researching its position in the region as a golf destinations. The members came to the conclusion that while there are many top golf destinations in the Midwest, no one destination could claim to have the quantity and the quality of great golf the Gaylord Golf Mecca offers. Combining that with the cool summer temperatures and long daylight summer hours allowing golfers to play late into the evening, the group adopted "America’s Summer Golf Mecca" to compliment the new logo.
The new logo design and branding statement captures the elements that has made the Gaylord Area the Midwest’s top golf destination for the past five years according to Great Lakes Golf Magazine. The new logo will be incorporated immediately into the website as well as upcoming marketing materials and will be in full usage on all marketing materials by late 2007.
"With 20 years as a major summer golf destination it was time for a new, fresh bold logo and branding campaign. We are very excited about the new image and very happy with the work done by Tandem, said Paul Beachnau-Executive Director of the Gaylord Area Convention and Tourism Bureau. "The new logo and marketing materials being developed will showcase the Gaylord area as a top golfing destination as well as a wonderful place to experience the outdoors."
Two decades ago, a group of innovative golf entrepreneurs in the Gaylord area came together along with a young marketing upstart to form what is now the Gaylord Golf Mecca. The members saw a vision of what the area could become if they worked together in promoting the quality and quantity of great golf the Gaylord Area featured.
Today, the Gaylord Golf Mecca offers something for everyone — world class resort destinations, high-quality public courses, fine and casual dining, and quaint inns. It’s an experience golfers of all skills and tastes can enjoy.
The Gaylord Golf Mecca is a coalition of 21 golf courses working together to promote the Gaylord Area as one of the top golf destinations in the country. The Mecca is a division of the Gaylord Area Convention and Tourism Bureau formed in 1987.
