Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. — (July 3, 2007) The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and ProQuip, one of the world’s leading golf weatherwear manufacturers, jointly announce that ProQuip has been named the official weatherwear of The 2007 United States Solheim Cup Team. The 2007 Solheim Cup will take place at Halmstad Golf Club in Halmstad Sweden, from Sept. 14-16.
The agreement provides ProQuip custom-designed wet-weather and wind clothing for Captain Betsy King’s United States Team, its support staff and caddies. ProQuip also will provide weatherwear to LPGA staff members, and VIPs, including LPGA Founders, board members and former captains.
"I regard the U.S. Team’s rain and wind garments as true technical equipment, and as important as golf balls and clubs in the event of inclement weather," said King. "I’m supremely confident in ProQuip’s ability to keep the team comfortable and dry, and we will reliantly carry ProQuip into competition in September in Halmstad."
ProQuip, founded in 1981 and based in the historic golfing town of North Berwick in Scotland, is synonymous with ultra-lightweight and supremely soft waterproof- breathable golf clothing. The company’s American operation, ProQuip USA, is based in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
The United States Solheim Cup Team will be outfitted in ProQuip’s custom-designed Ladies Utralite Rain suits and Ladies Silk Touch Half- Sleeve Windshields. Both garments offer the softest and quietest performance fabrics available in the world, and will reflect America’s colors with red rain jackets and windshields, and navy blue slacks.
"All of us are thrilled with the confidence expressed by the LPGA and Solheim Cup Captain Betsy King," cites ProQuip USA President Randy Payne. "The dodgy weather at previous Solheim Cups confirms the importance of competing with reliable and comfortable weatherwear, and we guarantee that the elements will not stand in the way of competitive excellence for the U.S. Solheim Cup Team."
ProQuip has a quarter-century history of outfitting international team golf competitions, tracing back to the victorious 1981 United States Ryder Cup Team. Most recently the company was the preferred weatherwear supplier to the 2006 European Ryder Cup Team at The K Club in Dublin. ProQuip has been selected by more Ryder Cup captains, European and American, than any other weatherwear brand in the match’s history. This is the first time ProQuip has outfitted the U.S. Solheim Cup Team.
Captain Betsy King will unveil her 12-member team on Aug. 26 at the conclusion of the Safeway Classic Presented by Pepsi, in Portland, Ore.

About The Solheim Cup
Sponsored by PING golf equipment, The Solheim Cup is named in honor of the company’s founder, Karsten Solheim, and his family. The Solheim Cup is the most prestigious team event in women’s professional golf. It is a biennial, trans-Atlantic team match-play competition featuring the best U.S.-born players from the LPGA and the best European-born players from the Ladies European Tour (LET). The U.S. Team leads the competition, 6-3, but the European Team has won three of four events staged in Europe and will be looking to regain the Cup in 2007 after a close competition in the U.S. in 2005.
