Acclaimed Robert Trent Jones Jr. Design on the Idaho Golf Trail’s Southern Loop Celebrates First Two Holes-in-One on Same Day
TAMARACK, Idaho – Osprey Meadows at Tamarack Resort – the Robert Trent Jones Jr. signature design named America’s best-new upscale resort course by Golf Digest Magazine – announces the initial holes-in-one were struck on the same day.
With five par-3 holes – one more than 18-hole championship layouts typically have – one might think aces at Osprey Meadows would be plentiful. This is proving far from reality however, and has many wondering if it’s a byproduct of the inspired, challenging design by the world-renowned golf course architect or the often ironic nature of the game.
Dick Bogle notched Osprey Meadows’ first hole-in-one on the 17th hole. Playing the blue square tee at 146 yards, Bogle used an 8 iron.
Matching Bogle’s feat, Kerry Baxter earned his ace on No. 13. Also playing the blue square tees at 103 yards, Baxter struck a pitching wedge for the hole-in-one. It was his first time playing Osprey Meadows.
Both golfers received commemorative plaques.
"A hole-in-one is the most exciting shot in golf and we’re thrilled to see not one, but two such thrills take place on the same day," say Director of Golf Tom Altmann. "The extra par 3 certainly adds to the excitement and there’s the fifth par 5 as well. Robert Trent Jones Jr. says the mountain dictated the design, which is unlike any other in the world."
Situated in the Payette River Mountains of west-central Idaho, Osprey Meadows at Tamarack Resort is a lush golf course that weaves through meadows, timbered slopes, and along Lake Cascade while providing a stern test for golfers who choose to challenge themselves from the double black diamond tips. Three sets of forward tees – black diamond, blue square and green circle – allow golfers of all skill levels to enjoy Osprey Meadows.
In just its second full season of golf, Osprey Meadows has garnered top honors from golf’s leading publications. Most notably, Golf Digest named Osprey Meadows the Best New Public Course $75 and over for 2006. Additional accolades for Osprey Meadows include:
â?¢ No. 2 Course in Idaho (top public-access course) – Golf Digest (May 2007)
â?¢ Top 10 New Courses You Can Play – GOLF Magazine (Jan. 2007)
â?¢ America’s Top Golf Courses – Zagat Survey 2007/2008 (March 2007)
