Rudy Duran to Lead Golf Workshops for Adults and Kids
"Rudy was always there for me. I can’t reiterate enough how much it meant to have someone there to teach me the basics and guide me along the way." Tiger Woods GLENCOE, Illinois (July 6, 2007) – The childhood coach of the golfer who might be the greatest ever will return to the GreenToTee Golf Academy next week to conduct a series of golf workshops aimed at both adults and kids.
Award-winning PGA golf professional Rudy Duran, who coached Tiger Woods from the ages four through 10, will be at the GreenToTee July 13-15 as part of the academy’s "World’s Greatest Golf Teachers" series.
One of the nation’s leading authorities on teaching golf to young people as well as adults, Duran plans to teach participating golfers the same fundamentals he taught Woods, said GreenToTee co-founder Joe Bosco.
"The GreenToTee Golf Academy is thrilled to welcome Rudy Duran back to the Chicago area," Bosco said. "The clinics Rudy gave earlier this summer were very insightful both for the young golfers who participated as well as the adults. The GreenToTee staff looks forward to working closely with Rudy during the workshops and will provide hands-on assistance to each participating twosome. It’s going to be a very special opportunity to learn about the game from the teacher who taught one of the greatest ever."
Those interested signing up for a workshop may contact GreenToTee at 847-405-9800 or visit greentotee.com
Duran plans to share his experience of coaching Woods, nurturing the young prodigy’s love of the game, and working with his parents, Earl and Tida Woods, to create a positive and fun learning environment for Tiger. And he plans to explain how those experiences can help participants be more successful in golf and in their own relationships.
The half-day workshops are designed for young golfers as well as adults of all skill levels, according to Bosco. They will focus on building fundamental golf skills in a simple, uncomplicated, and – most of all – fun manner – just as Duran did with Tiger when he was a child.
The workshop also is aimed at helping parents better understand how to play a positive role in their child’s golf experience and development, Duran said.
"Earl and Tida never asked Tiger what score he shot or what place he finished in a tournament," Duran said. "They would ask him whether he had fun and whether he learned anything. Their reaction was the same whether he finished first or 10th or whatever."
GreenToTee will host Duran’s workshops in both the morning (8 a.m.- noon) and afternoon (1-5 p.m.) at both the academy’s home course at the Glencoe Golf Club on Chicago’s North Shore and at the Midwest Golf House in southwest suburban Lemont across from Cog Hill Golf & CountryClub. Founded in 1989 by Bosco and renowned Illinois Section PGA professional Peter Donahue, the GreenToTee Golf Academy specializes in developing customized golf skills training programs for individuals who want to improve their games. Not satisfied with providing players with the popular "temporary quick fix" or "one-size- fits-all" golf lessons, GreenToTee instructors work one-on-one with each student to develop a "planned personal program" aimed at producing lasting improvements and measurable results. In addition to helping players identify effective swing models, GreenToTee instructors teach students to manage their games on the course, using on-course playing lessons and an essential element of the teaching process.
