Designed by Davis Love III, Course is Ideal for Families and Beginners
(WATERSOUND, Fla.) – The St. Joe Company today announces that The Origins Course at WaterSound – an innovative "concept" course designed for families and beginners by Davis Love III — will host a variety of summer programs in conjunction with the PGA of America’s Family Golf Month in July.
The Origins Course will welcome families and juniors for camps, tournaments and outings throughout Family Golf Month, as well as the remainder of summer. The one-of-a-kind design by Love III plays as a six-hole regulation course, a nine-hole executive course and a ten- hole par 3 layout that is perfectly suited to families and beginning golfers.
These family and junior programs are offered at The Origins Course this summer:
Beginner Teens Tournament – Junior golfers age 11-18 are invited to play in this two-person scramble, held every Tuesday at 2 p.m.
throughout the summer months. Novices and first-time golfers are welcomed, with clubs provided at no extra charge if needed. The fee is $15 per player (cart fee is extra).
Family Golf Outing Afternoon at The Origins Course – Starting at 2 p.m. each Wednesday in July and August, a golf professional will tour the course offering instruction and tips to family members. Regular adult and junior rates apply.
Kids’ Summer Golf Camps – These four-day camps run Monday-Thursday, with sessions from July 9-12 and July 16-19 (a tournament preparation camp for experienced juniors). The camps are open to members, resort guests and homeowners at $175 per participant and include PGA instruction, instructional booklets, visors, golf balls, refreshments, daily prize drawings and contests, and cookout parties following the Thursday sessions.
Family Promotion – All summer, kids 15 and under play free at The Origins Course when accompanied by a paying adult.
Families across the country are encouraged to play golf together during Family Golf Month, a Play Golf America program designed to provide a structured, yet casual opportunity for families to learn the game. Launched in 2004, Play Golf America is a player development initiative focusing on new and occasional golfers — a combined group of 31 million individuals.
"We’re proud to participate in Family Golf Month and encourage golfing families, both novice and avid, to enjoy the game together,"
says Will Hopkins, Camp Creek General Manager. "Our staff truly enjoys working with junior and adult golfers in a relaxed group environment."

About The Origins Course at WaterSound
The Origins Course at WaterSound’s mission is to make golf more fun, accessible and attractive to families, beginners and casual golfers.
A six-hole regulation course that alternatively plays as a nine-hole executive course and a ten-hole par 3 layout, The Origins Course was conceived with the "short course" concept at its core. Designed by Love Golf Design, founded by PGA Tour player Davis Love III, the course is consistent with the Scottish origins of the game, in which six, nine and 12-hole courses were commonplace. The Origins Course appeals and caters to novices via its non-penal design and manageable distance of approximately 1,800 yards. Yet its regulation-length holes and traditionally wrought green complexes provide enough challenge and strategy to retain the interest of experienced golfers.
Turfed with "Sealsle Supreme Paspalum," which requires fewer chemicals for weed and pest control, The Origins Course supports St.
Joe’s commit! ment to environmental sensitivity and preservation.
About Camp Creek
Since opening in 2001, Camp Creek has been consistently cited as one of Tom Fazio’s most thought-provoking, aesthetically-stunning design credits. Featuring a unique "dunescape" appearance, the course was created as a private club for members who are owners of selected St.
Joe communities and resort guests of St. Joe’s WaterColor and WaterSound Beach resorts. From the back green tees, the course plays to a championship caliber yardage of 7,159 and a formidable slope rating of 145. Camp Creek’s five-tee configuration, which also includes gold (senior) and red (women’s) tees, accommodates players of all skill and experience levels. Travel + Leisure Golf recently recognized Camp Creek as "Florida’s No. 1 Course of the New Millennium." It has also been recognized for its environmental stewardship through designation as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary by the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System (ACSS).
Superintendent Larry Livingston was similarly disting! uished as a certified Audubon Steward.
