Greater Focus on Original Content and User-Friendliness Golf For Women magazine will have own Website
NEW YORK, NY—As part of a broader initiative to provide increased online support for its magazines, Golf Digest Publications has unveiled new websites for its three flagship titles—Golf Digest, Golf World and Golf For Women. The announcement was made today by Jerry Tarde, Chairman and Editorial Director of Golf Digest Publications, a division of Condé Nast Publications.
Under the new structure, the online components of Golf Digest and Golf World will live on one website—www.golfdigest.com—and there will be separate homepages on the site identifying each title. The homepage for Golf World will be www.golfdigest.com/golfworld. New web editor, Mike McAllister, will oversee all online content.
For the first time, Golf For Women will have its own website— www.golfforwomen.com—and it will be supervised by its own web editor, Alena Bubniak.
"We see this as a natural extension of our publications and as the next step in building on the strong bond that already exists between our magazines and our readers," said Tarde. "In an interactive era, it is critical that we connect with our readers and give them a chance to talk with us. These sites will not only allow readers to customize content, but to create their own and share it with editors and other readers as well."
The most pronounced changes to the sites will be increased original content, easier navigation and greater reader involvement. Editors and writers will have a stronger presence on the sites and there will be a greater focus on blogging.
On GolfDigest.com, changes will include a more comprehensive digital showroom featuring videos and slideshows, and a "Tip of the Day"
feature that will offer a different piece of golf advice from the magazine’s prestigious pool of exclusive Playing Editors, such as Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson, Arnold Palmer and Annika Sorenstam. GolfWorld.com will place a stronger emphasis on breaking news and real-time analyses of top stories of the day. It will also provide content from and link to ESPN.com.
On golfforwomen.com, users will experience the only place on the web that is designed specifically for women golfers. For the first time, readers will be able to interact with each other in forums covering everything from equipment and style to experiences on the golf course and travel ideas. There will also be fashion slideshows and beauty and skincare tips. The website will be a woman’s destination for LPGA breaking tournament news and instruction from Golf For Women experts.
