Aussie Uses a Full Complement of TaylorMade-adidas Golf Equipment Including Burner® Driver, TP RedÌ¢?å¢ Ball and POWERBAND Footwear to Capture Nationwide Tour’s Legend Financial Group Classic
CARLSBAD, Calif. (July 9, 2007) – TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff professional Jason Day yesterday became the youngest player to win a PGA Tour-sponsored event. Day, 19, captured the Legend Financial Group Classic presented by Cynergies Solutions with a 16-under-par, tournament-record score of 268. Tied for the lead as he played the final hole, Day lofted a pitching wedge from 107 yards to six feet, then sank the birdie putt for a one-stroke victory, pumping his right fist as the ball found the hole.
Day used a TaylorMade Burner driver to rank 3rd in driving distance (316.4 yards) and a Rossa® Suzuka putter to rank 5th in putts per green in regulation (1.1661). He also used an r7® TP 4-wood, racâ?¢ LT 2- through 4- irons, rac Forged TP 5- through pitching wedge, rac TP 56-degree sand wedge and 58-degree lob wedge, Rossa Suzuka putter and TaylorMade TP Red ball. Day also wore adidas Golf ClimaCool® apparel and POWERBAND footwear.
It was the second consecutive winning week for the Burner driver; TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staffer Brian Bateman used a Burner last week to win the PGA Tour’s Buick Open. Likewise, it was the second consecutive winning week for the TaylorMade TP ball; TaylorMade Tour Staffer Lonnie Nielsen used a TP Blackâ?¢ last week to win the Champions Tour’s Commerce Bank Championship.
Day’s victory elevated him to No. 8 on the Nationwide Tour money list, greatly increasing his chances of finishing among the top 25 players in that category, all of whom will earn playing privileges on the PGA Tour for 2008.
