FORT WORTH, Texas — Providing consistency and accuracy, high- performance graphite shafts by UST® (United Sports Technologies®) captured first- and second-place at the John Deere Classic on the PGA Tour. In addition to the victory, UST shafts won six of the Top 10 money positions.
This year’s John Deere champion scored at 18-under 266 playing Callaway fairway woods custom-fit with Proforce V2 shafts, while the runner-up trusted IROD Hybrid shafts in his two TaylorMade Rescue clubs. With this victory, the champion is the only American under 30 with three wins on tour.
"Week after week, the Proforce V2 continues to be one of the hottest graphite shafts in golf today, and the performance displayed at this weekend’s John Deere Classic was a great example of why some of the world’s best players — like Jim Furyk, Davis Love III, Rod Pampling and others — trust the V2," says Jim McIntosh, tour representative for UST. "The V2 is highly acclaimed for it superior performance in drivers and fairway woods and it’s won on pro tours around the world."
The low-torque characteristics of the Proforce V2 optimize performance of today’s 400cc to 460cc driver heads and larger fairway woods, which often increase hit-ability for golfers. However, in most of these larger heads, the head’s center of gravity (CG) has been moved further away from the center line of the shaft, a factor which places more stress and causes more twisting on the shaft. The V2’s low torque design provides the power and control needed for 400cc to 460cc heads, plus the V2 prevents clubheads from twisting open on impact; reduces the amount of back spin imparted onto the ball and enhances shot dispersion.
By employing a vigorous testing process, UST maintains extremely tight tolerances through comprehensive computer testing, analytical lab testing and player testing programs. Shaft designs are finalized using sophisticated proprietary software design, and then analyzed in critical testing which includes: flex testing and methodology, torque testing, durability bending, impact testing, air cannon testing, frequency testing, and paint adhesion and durability testing.
