PLANO, TEXAS, July 17, 2007 – Adams Golf Tour Staff Pro R.W. Eaks captured his first win on the Champions Tour with a 17-under 199 at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open in Endicott, N.Y. Eaks won $240,000 to push his yearly earnings over $1 million. He has finished in the Top 5 in seven other events this year and ranks fourth on the 2007 Money List.
Eaks’ bogey-free second round 62 put him in the lead before Sunday’s final round where he distanced himself from the field with a 6-under 66. Playing the Insight BTY driver, Eaks averaged 305.7 yards in driving distance for the tournament, ranking 5th in the category. He also led the field in GIR and eagles made (3). Eaks played the Insight BTY 3-wood and 5-wood, both fairway woods constructed with a one-piece titanium crown and face brazed to a stainless steel chassis for a hot ball flight.
"We congratulate R.W. on his outstanding performance last weekend," said Chip Brewer, Adams Golf CEO and president. "He’s put together a stellar season so far and we don’t expect him to slow down any time soon. R.W. is a great representative of our company and we’re thrilled to see him playing at such a high level."
Eaks’ win marked the seventh on tour this year for the Adams Golf Tour Staff. He joins tour staff pros Brad Bryant (2), Scott Hoch, Brittany Lincicome, Scott Sterling and Tom Watson as 2007 winners. Eaks will next play in the British Senior Open Championship starting July 26 in Scotland.
