Tournament Offers Junior Golfers a Competitive Opportunity Not Typically Found, with Chance to Participate in Cincinnati City Junior Cup
[CINCINNATI, Ohio] – Several hundred young golfers will tee it up this week in the City Junior Open hosted by Cincinnati Recreation Commission ("CRC") Golf Courses and being held on four of the Queen City’s municipal layouts.
Play will begin on Wednesday, July 25 at Reeves and California Golf Courses. Play will also be held on those courses Thursday. On Friday, the tournament moves to Neumann Golf Course and the final round will be held Saturday, July 28 at the CRC’s flagship layout – Glenview Golf Course.
Junior Golfers are flighted into groups based on their age, beginning with 8 year olds and going up to 17 year olds. Juniors ages 8-12 will play 9 holes each day. Juniors ages 13-17 will play 18 holes the first two days, with a cut of 50% of the field for the second two days of play.
Results will be posted online each evening at www.cincygolf.org after the conclusion of play for the day.
"This is a real opportunity for junior golfers to play in a competitive atmosphere. We look forward to this event each season, especially seeing the same golfers year after year as they mature into their golf games," says Don Tillar Jr, Tournament Director.
There will then be a draw party on Wednesday, August 1 at Glenview Golf Course to determine the top golfers that will continue on to play in the Cincinnati City Junior Cup, a Ryder Cup-style tournament scheduled for Friday, August 3 at Reeves Golf Course, which matches the top junior golfers from the Cincinnati Recreation Commission Golf Courses and the Hamilton County Park District Golf Courses.
