International Tour Operator Also Announces Early Booking Airfare Rewards
WILMINGTON, NC (July 23, 2007) – With the U.S. dollar showing continued weakness against worldwide currencies, PerryGolf has announced a price increase on its international golf and luxury lifestyle tours. Depending on the destination, price increases of 6 to 15 percent will take effect beginning Aug. 1, according to PerryGolf president Gordon Dalgleish.
One of the travel industry’s most respected operators, PerryGolf has been planning and managing golf tours to the British Isles and a number of other international destinations for more than 20 years.
"We’re taking this action very reluctantly and after delaying as long as prudently possible," said Dalgleish. "The weakening dollar simply forced our hand."
The British pound and the euro have been trading at historic highs against the U.S. dollar for more than two years, making it more expensive for U.S. companies to purchase goods and services in foreign markets and decreasing their margins.
"We’ve always operated with the belief that educated consumers are seldom surprised and make the best decisions for their own travel needs," Dalgleish said.
To give clients an opportunity to save on their travel prior to the price increase, PerryGolf also announced that tours reserved prior to Aug. 31 to any of the nine PerryGolf destinations served by British Airways (Scotland, Ireland, England, Wales, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and South Africa) would qualify for its early booking airfare reward program. An early booking reward economy ticket from New York to Scotland, for example, is as low as $487. The company is also offering airfare discounts to its Asian destinations.
Established in 1984, Wilmington, N.C.-based PerryGolf offers the industry’s most prestigious and diverse selection of deluxe golf travel experiences to the British Isles, Portugal, France, Spain, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and China.
