Boston, Massachusetts, July 19, 2007 – PUMA® today announced the signing of professional golfer, José-Filipe Lima. Lima will feature PUMA Golf apparel and selected accessories – like the leaping cat logo on his belt – on course this week at the British Open in Carnoustie, Scotland.
Lima emerged on to the golf scene in 2001, when he was the top-ranked French amateur. French by birth, Lima adopted his mother’s nationality in 2004 and represented Portugal in that year’s WGC-World Cup, while becoming the best Portuguese player ever. Lima’s major achievements include winning the European Youth Championship in 2002, Alps Tour Rookie of the Year in 2003, and in 2004, several victories on the Challenge Tour. More recently, Lima has continued his hot streak with third-place finishes at the BMW Asian Open, Celtic Manor Wales Open and a runner-up at the BMW International Open in Munich, his biggest career pay day.
