LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – Craig Adams and Nick Polonia, both Las Vegas residents, edged out the team of Curtis Deal and James Logeman with a birdie on the third sudden-death playoff hole to take top honors in the 2007 Cleveland Golf Pro-Scratch at Angel Park Golf Club, a two- day event held on July 22 and 23. For their efforts, Adams, the professional on the team, earned $2,300 and Polonia earned $750 in Angel Park gift certificates.

At the end of regulation play (two rounds of one best ball of two), both teams carded a 13-under-par 129 (Adams/Polonia shot 63, 66 and Deal/Logeman shot 66, 63). The championship was almost decided on the first playoff hole (No. 18) when Adams nearly holed his second shot from 125 yards. His efforts were redeemed; as he went on to sink a seven-foot birdie putt on the third playoff hole (No. 18) to win the championship.

"We played very well on the first day especially on our last four holes where we made Eagle, Par, Birdie, Eagle on holes 10, 11, 12 and 13," said Polonia. "Different story on the second day, we were just grinding. The only highlights were Craig’s birdies on two of the longer par 3s. That carried us across the finish line.

"Another exciting finish to an event that is becoming a Las Vegas favorite among competitive golfers," said Kris Strauss, fellow

competitor and director of marketing for OB Sports Golf Management.

"We appreciate all of the support from the sponsors: Cleveland Golf, TI (Treasure Island), Club Car and Southern Wine and Spirits."

Sixty teams competed for cash, gift certificates and skins throughout the two-day event. Following the first round of play, the top 15 teams that opted into the Horse Race received an opportunity to compete in a shoot-out on Angel Park’s Cloud Nine Short Course. A fun-filled "event within the event," the team of Jim Delaney and Tom Scranton took top honors.

Angel Park Golf Club is a 36-hole facility located in the Summerlin area of Las Vegas. Its Mountain Course and Palm Course were both designed by Arnold Palmer. The club also has a 12-hole Cloud Nine Short Course, the World’s Original natural grass putting course and an expansive practice tee – all of which are lighted for evening enjoyment.
