SOUTHLAKE, TX – July 10, 2007 – Pure Motion Sports, Inc., manufacturer of the computerized graphical feedback putter training system TOMI, announced today that the company has entered into a formal distribution contract with Minibox Co. Ltd.
Minibox is a highly sophisticated company that specializes in the importing and distribution of premium golf equipment. They represent the exclusive line of Scotty Cameron Putters and Titleist golf equipment throughout Japan. According to Pure Motions Sports CEO Bill Kirkendall, the company earned this highly coveted agreement by developing a comprehensive plan for distribution. They sell direct and do not utilize or work with sub-distributors. This practice maintains direct retail relationships as well as retail pricing. The Professionals, Semi-Professionals, and Top Amateur Golfers rely on Minibox. Not only do they provide them with top equipment but customize or fine tune it specifically for each of these customers.
"This is a mutually benefiting arrangement. TOMI will be represented by one of Japan’s most reputable distributors and Minibox will be the first to introduce TOMI to the golf professional as well as the consumer which is a very sophisticated, technology driven golfer which we predict will be one of our largest global territories," said Kirkendall.
TOMI (The Optimal Motion Instructor) is the first of a planned series of computerized motion monitoring products for Pure Motion Sports. TOMI works with a stroke capturing base unit (a little larger than a PDA) that connects to a laptop or PC computer which is loaded with proprietary stroke analysis software. A small motion transmitter clip attaches directly to the putter. The transmitter captures and the computer analyzes the fundamental mechanics of a putting stroke and instantly communicates that information to the instructor and student on a computer screen. Equipped with this information a student’s putting stroke can be tested and modified to produce a fluid, well-executed, well-aligned stroke and it does so in real time so the putting lesson can continue uninterrupted.
"Selecting the right distributor in Japan was a critical component to our global growth and expansion. And we’re confident that this partnership with Minobox will help create awareness and generate great success for TOMI," adds Kirkendall.
TOMI was developed by Marius Filmalter, a professional golf instructor and former South African touring professional who has dedicated his career to researching influences and how they affect the performances of the golfer, in particular, motor strategy disturbances such as the Yips. Together with Professor Ernst Poeppel of the University of Munich and other scientists, Filmalter helped develop new and more effective methods to facilitate the proper communication between body and mind. As an outgrowth of his studies, Filmalter was the prime contributor to the development of TOMI.
TOMI’s technology was designed to provide Filmalter computerized graphical feedback and data during his studies to analyze his student’s physical putting techniques. Once the information was gathered, he could assist them directly with their putting stroke and then work with their mental communication. Filmalter’s scientific approach to putting has have drawn him a student roster that comprises of top PGA, LPGA, Nationwide, Champions and European Touring Professionals. Some of his student’s include; Chad Campbell, Billy Andrade, Jeff Sluman, Sean O’Hair, Rich Beam, Brad Faxon, David Duval, David Frost, Billy Mayfair, Kelly Huehne, Kris Tschetter, D.A. Weibring, Peter Jacobsen, Mark O’Meara and many more.
TOMI is produced, manufactured, and distributed by Pure Motions Sport, Inc, of South Lake, TX. Their goal is to assist instructors and coaches at all levels of the game.
