Discover how your mind becomes the 15th club in your bag
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Golfers spend a considerable amount of time and money on training and equipment trying to hit the ball further. But what they may not realize is that their common warm-up routines may be robbing them of their strength and energy before they even approach the first tee.
In his groundbreaking DVD, "Par and Beyond Secrets to Better Golf," Dr. Jerry V. Teplitz explains the Meridian Acupuncture lines in the human body and how these energy fields affect your golf game.
In the DVD, Teplitz demonstrates these techniques using three different golfers. He stands in front of the first golfer instructing him to extend his strongest arm straight out from the side of him body keeping his thumb pointing down. Dr. Teplitz then presses on the arm telling the golfer to resist. This establishes the person’s strength of resistance.
Next, Teplitz explains that the Stomach Meridian runs from the each eye to the foot on the same side of the body. With a wave of the hand down that line, Dr. Teplitz uses muscle pressure to demonstrate that the body is physically weakened by pushing down on the golfer’s arm. It will come down easily. With another wave, he demonstrates how to return strength to the body by running his hand from the foot to the eyes without touching the body.
In the next section of the DVD, Teplitz demonstrates the Spleen Meridian by running his hand from the golfer’s arm to the front of her navel and then muscle checks her as he did the first subject. Again, the arm was pushed down easily. He restored her strength by quickly rubbing his hand along the same line from the arm to the navel. When he muscle checks, the arm stays up.
So how does all of this affect your golf game? When you take practice swings, you are interfering with and reducing the flow of energy in your body and your ability to drive the ball farther. To prevent this, simply take your practice swings and then rub your stomach along the Spleen Meridian line to restore the energy in your body.
As a third example, rather than breaking the energy field by waving his hand, Teplitz asks the golfer to focus on a negative shot on the golf course. Again, the subject’s arm was easily pushed down. This time; however, Teplitz asked him to think of a really good shot he’d hit and the strength was returned.
"This proves that when you have a bad break or you hit a bad shot on the golf course, you have the power to immediately choose how you are going to react to it," explained Teplitz. "It also shows that your mind set can either strengthen or weaken your mental focus. This is, after a fashion, how the top golfers get into and stay in the zone."
This demonstrates how your mind becomes the 15th club in your golf bag.
"Being able to keep positive thoughts in your mind will allow you to better focus on the challenge at hand," said Teplitz. "Instead of wondering if you can pull off a shot, you believe you can and the mind then frees up the body to perform."
