Pebble Beach, CA (July 31, 2007)—Noted golf industry consultant, Emmy Moore Minister, was recognized earlier this month by the Northern California Section of the PGA (NCPGA) for her dedicated service and invaluable contributions to the association. The formal award presentation took place at the 2007 NCPGA Semi-Annual Meeting in Reno, Nevada. Nearly 200 PGA golf professionals and industry leaders were on hand as Moore Minister was duly honored with an engraved plaque citing her 14 years of service and for significantly "â?¦touching the lives of all members and apprentices and ultimately elevating the game of golf in Northern California."
"It was indeed a pleasure to be a part in commemorating Emmy Moore Minister and her work as Communications Consultant for our Section," said Chris Thomas, NCPGA Executive Director. "Her contributions to the Northern California PGA, its members and affiliates have been numerous and serve as a major part of the association’s foundation." Moore Minister recently concluded her tenure as the communications consultant for the Northern California PGA, during which time she helped promote association members and programs.
"For many years now, Emmy has championed and supported Northern California PGA club professionals and staff, not only in their triumphing moments, but during the tough times too," remarked golf legend and NCPGA Honorary Member, Ken Venturi. "Her contributions to the Northern California PGA are unparalleled, and certainly well-deserving of recognition. Her shoes will be difficult to fill."
Besides her duties in communications and media relations, in 1999 Moore Minister held the position of NCPGA Executive Director for an interim period, but declined the assignment on a permanent basis. She was named as an Honorary Member of the Northern California PGA in 2002 — the only woman to receive such a distinction in the Association’s 87-year history. Moore Minister is a founding member of the NCPGA "Growth of the Game" Committee, and has worked closely with the PGA of America in its industry-wide, "Play Golf America" initiative. She is also one of the founders of the California Alliance for Golf, and is a member of the recently formed, Northern California Women’s Golf Summit.
Moore Minister serves on the Communications Committee for the California Golf Course Owners Association, and for the past 15 years has produced and co-hosted "Voice of the Valley" television program (a Silicon Valley-based cable presentation), which often includes interviews and discussion on golf related topics, personalities, and events. Her government and public affairs background includes service as the Chairperson for the City of Santa Clara Planning Commission and the Santa Clara County Assessment Appeals Board.
Moore Minister also functions as communications consultant to the Golf Course Superintendents’ Association of Northern California, and bases her executive consulting business from the Monterey Peninsula, Silicon Valley and Woodland-Sacramento Region.
