Early Registration for Orlando Event Now Open
CHARLESTON, S.C. (Aug. 1, 2007) – "Perhaps the most powerful force in the business world is the natural energy of human interaction," says Carr Hagerman, a former street performer turned business consultant and lecturer, who will deliver one of the keynote addresses at the NGCOA’s 2008 Annual Conference, Jan. 29-Feb. 1, 2008, in Orlando.
Early registration for the 2008 conference, the golf industry’s largest gathering of golf course owners and operators, opened Aug. 1 and offers attendees a $100 discount.
Hagerman’s keynote address will kick off the conference’s education track, which will featurepre-conference workshops, keynotes and concurrent sessions. Much of the conference’s educational content will focus on inspiring and training the golf staff to deliver outstanding customer service that builds business, according to Anne Lyndrup, the NGCOA’s director of conference and trade show.
"Research shows that the most effective way to motivate golfers to choose one course over another in a competitive market is through an engaging, well-trained staff," said Lyndrup. "Conference attendees will learn how to mine the energy and talents of their staff to drive incremental business."
In addition to Hagerman, Wolf Hengst, president of Worldwide Hotel Operations for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts; and Dan Thurmon, author of Success in Action, are among the conference’s other featured speakers.
Hengst, who has lectured at many of the nation’s most distinguished universities and is a director of several non-profit organizations, including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Public Television, will be the keynote speaker for the conference’s multi- course owners education track.
Thurmon, who began his entrepreneurial career when he was 11 after learning to juggle at a Renaissance festival, uses performance art to reinforce the importance of superior performances on and off the stage. As president of Motivation Works, an international speaking and entertainment firm. Thurmon teaches audiences how to manage the demands of busy lives with increased focus and decisive action. Winners of the NGCOA’s annual awards for course quality, management excellence and contributions to the association and the game of golf also will be recognized during the conference.
The NGCOA’s Annual Conference will run concurrently with the 2008 Golf Industry Show, Jan. 31-Feb. 2, in Orlando. The Golf Industry Show, which is presented by the NGCOA, the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and the Club Managers Association of America, brings together owners, operators and professional members of the golf course and club management industries. ###
