SUNRIVER, Ore., Aug. 6, 2007 â?¦ Caldera Springs, the new 400-acre resort community created by the same team that developed and operates Sunriver Resort, will formally unveil its golf course at a grand opening ceremony on Saturday (Aug. 11).
Caldera Links and Golf Park — a nine-hole, par-three layout with three regulation-length holes — will be opened to the public for self-guided walking tours beginning at 10 a.m. Appropriately, the family-style golf course will be the site of a kids’ putting contest from 10 to 11 a.m.
Caldera Springs, like Sunriver Resort, is located 15 miles south of Bend.
Bob Cupp and Jim Ramey, Caldera Links and Golf Park co-designers, will both be present and will be honored during a commemorative ceremony and champagne toast planned from 11 to 11:30 a.m.
Cupp, with a lengthy résumé of acclaimed courses to his name, is co- designer of Sunriver Resort’s Crosswater course, while Ramey currently serves as director of agronomy for all Sunriver Resort courses after a long tenure as superintendent at Crosswater. Also an accomplished author, Cupp will be introducing his newly published golf book, "The Edict."
The ceremony will be capped by a lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Harper’s Outpost Picnic Pavilion. A "four-ball eightsome" golf tournament for Caldera Springs owners and Crosswater members will begin at 1 p.m.
The Caldera Springs community will be the focus of a separate grand- opening event on Saturday, Sept. 1, which also will be open to the public.
