Company Continued Winning Ways while Extending Dominant Japan Tour Brand Streak
(SAN DIEGO, California) – Graphite Design — maker of some of the most widely played graphite driver, fairway wood and hybrid shaft models on the PGA TOUR — powered its 10th Nationwide Tour winner of the year while producing another victory and 146th consecutive graphite shaft brand count win on the Japan Tour, according to the Darrell Survey.
The winner of the Nationwide Tour’s Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open played a Graphite Design model in his 3-wood, as did a third- place finisher. Already this season, 10 Nationwide Tour professionals have reached the winner’s circle with Graphite Design shaft models in their bags. Graphite Design’s YS-Hybrid 85 was the most-played hybrid shaft model as well, with a total of 15 carried by the field.
In Japan, Graphite Design once again dominated the graphite wood shaft brand count with 150 shafts in play, 43 more than the nearest competitor, at the Sun Chlorella Classic. For the seventh time in 2007, the winner utilized Graphite Design shafts, including the Tour AD Quattro Tech in his driver. In all, five top-five finishers played Graphite Design shafts while Quattro Tech was the most-played driver shaft model.
"Professionals around the world continue to excel playing Graphite Design shafts, and we’re proud to provide them with the tools for victory," said Tim Gillis, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Graphite Design. "Like their professional counterparts, amateurs can maximize their abilities with the accuracy and distance advantages built into every Graphite Design shaft."
In 2006, Graphite Design shafts were played by 41 winners of professional tournaments worldwide. Players using Graphite Design shafts amassed more than $90 million in PGA TOUR earnings in 2006 while the company earned more graphite wood-shaft model count victories on the PGA TOUR (16) than any other manufacturer. On the Japan Tour, Graphite Design shafts were in the bags of 18 winners in
2006 while the company extended its win streak in the wood-shaft brand count to 134 consecutive tournaments – an unprecedented string dating to 2002.
Graphite Design is the graphite shaftmaker of choice for Hank Haney, coach to the world’s top-ranked player. The company recently introduced the Tour AD Quattro Tech ultra-premium shaft in the U.S.
and launched its G-TECH combination-flex custom clubmaker series of wood and iron shafts, designed for exceptional playability throughout the bag.
