Eight Staff Members Changing Roles As Morton Golf Prepares For Future Growth With Many New Changes
Sacramento, California- Morton Golf, operators of three City of Sacramento Golf Courses, announced today eight different exciting personnel changes that will prepare the company for bigger things in 2008 and beyond. With current Bing Maloney General Manager Matt Holm’s departure to take over the Emerald Lakes Golf Course in Elk Grove and unparalleled growth in the Super S hop since the March 2007 expansion, these changes fill many manager and position needs. Best of all, every candidate was promoted internally and comes with a great Morton Golf culture.
Rob Weizer will be the new General Manager of the Bing Maloney Golf Complex in south Sacramento. Rob was born and raised in Willow Glen, CA and is a PGA of America Class A Member. As the former Head Golf Professional at the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa, Rob brings over 17 years of professional experience to the team at Bing Maloney. He most recently worked as a Teaching Golf Professional at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. He has also had experience at Bing Maloney, The Ridge in Auburn, CA and Timber Creek GC in Roseville, CA during his career. As a manager, he developed a nationally-recognized 5-Diamond Resort Customer Service Training program at the Ojai Valley Inn.
Larry Rehberg will be the new Head Golf Professional at the Bing Maloney Golf Complex. Larry is also a PGA of America Class A Member. Larry returned to the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex in 2007 after spending several years working for Morton Golf in the 1980’s. He has been the Customer Service Manager overseeing the starter and cashier corps at Haggin Oaks. Larry spent 8 years as the Head Golf Professional at the military course Lawrence Links Golf Course in Sacramento during the 1990’s and even has some law-enforcement background in the Sheriff’s Department.
Bob Halpenny will be the new Director of Instruction and Clubfitting at the Bing Maloney Golf Complex. Bob is also a PGA of America Class A Member. Bob has a long and rich history as a golf professional in Sacramento- culminating in a part-time instructor role at Bing Maloney this year. Bob began his career at the River Bend Golf Course in West Sacramento and was the Head Golf Professional there. It was redone under his guidance and changed to Lighthouse Golf Course and he ran the golf course until it closed. Bob will oversee all instruction and retail clubfitting operations at Bing Maloney GC.
Bill Dixon has been named as the new Retail Sales Manager where he will oversee the Haggin Oaks Golf Super Shop and MacKenzie Shoe Store- including all floor manager and sales personnel as well as sales operations. Bill has been with Morton Golf for nearly 20 years. He has experience managing at highly regarded golf resorts such as Treetops Resort in Gaylord, Michigan and Princeville Resort on the island of Kauai. Bill has worked nearly every position at Haggin Oaks handling cart, starter, cashier, teaching, fitting, sales, and managing roles all along his career.
Maura Cassidy is the exciting new choice for the Haggin Oaks Customer Service Manager overseeing the starter and cashier staff and operations. Maura has spent nearly 2 years in the Haggin Oaks Golf Super Shop where she has worn two hats. She has done a wonderful job on the sales floor as one of our highest soft goods sales producer. More recently, she has assisted the buyers as a role as merchandiser doing displays. Maura comes with a rich history of management in the restaurant industry and will surely do a fantastic job in her new role at Haggin Oaks.
Andrew Wilson moves from the Bing Maloney Golf Course where he has been the Shop Manager in charge of retail sales and has been named the new Haggin Oaks Golf Super Shop Floor Manager. Andrew spent many years as a sales manager in the water business, but golf had always been a passion. Joining the Bing Maloney team earlier this year, he has been a key part of their 2007 retail resurgence. Andrew will oversee hard goods and soft goods sales personnel and retail day-to-day operations.
Brian Fuentes, assistant golf professional at the Bing Maloney Golf Course, will also be moving over to the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex where he will maintain the same role. Brian is another homegrown employee, starting out as a starter and moving up to tournament sales and eventually to a golf professional role. Brian will split his time between instruction, clubfitting and hard goods sales in the Haggin Oaks Golf Super Shop.
Dave Sleeper will maintain his role of floor manager but has also taken over the title of Shoe Store Manager as well. Dave has an extensive background in footwear, working with RedWing Shoes for many years before working the last several years in shoe sales for Morton Golf. Dave will oversee product ordering, sales and staffing for the shoe store while still working with Bill Dixon, Retail Sales Manager, and the other two floor managers, Jeff Anderson and Andrew Wilson.
