LAURINBURG, N.C. â?¦ Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced today that Bo Andrews and Courtney Gunter, both of North Carolina, clinched wins at the 2007 Golf Pride® Junior Classic in Pinehurst, N.C.
This year’s event, conducted by the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), was held at the National Golf Club in Pinehurst, N.C., from August 6-9, and featured 95 of the top junior players in the United States and Canada. According to equipment surveys conducted at every AJGA tournament, Golf Pride grips are used by the vast majority of players competing at junior golf’s highest level.
"Golf Pride has a long standing commitment to competitive junior golf," said Jeff Fiorini, general manager for Eaton’s Golf Grip Division. "Our goal is to provide a forum for junior golfers to develop the skills and confidence necessary to excel on and off the course. The field of 95 players impressed us all with great golf skills and stamina as they played each round of the tournament through triple digit temperatures."
Bo Andrews, of Raleigh, N.C., finished 8-under-par to win the 2007 Golf Pride Junior Classic in the Boy’s division. "I just got in the zone and made some putts," Andrews said. "It just shows that hard work can really pay off."
Courtney Gunter, of Matthews, N.C., won the Girl’s division, finishing 1-over-par. "I just tried to play my game out there and it went well," Gunter said. "I was putting a lot better this week and it made a big difference."
The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.
