Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., August 10. 2007 ï?¾ The Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) Foundation raised over $25,000 at its fundraising dinner and charity golf tournament held in late June in conjunction with the U.S. Women’s Open Championship at Pine Needles, North Carolina.
In its fifth year, the EWGA at the U.S. Women’s Open presented by Duke Heart Center brought together EWGA members, family and friends from across the country to show their support for women’s golf and to raise funds for future generations. Proceeds from this EWGA Foundation event benefit LPGA-USGA Girls Golf, a developmental junior golf program for girls age 7-17 to play golf, build friendships and sample competition in a supportive and positive learning environment.
A highlight of this year’s event included a chance to win playing spots in the Friday tournament with LPGA Hall of Famer, two time U.S. Women’s Open winner and EWGA Foundation board member Patty Sheehan. The golf tournament was sponsored by Coors Brewing Company and event sponsors included Activegolf.com, C-Thru Grips, SMT Golf, Top-Sales-Jobs.com and the Turning Stone Resort. Dozens of other companies contributed products and services to the event. Eighty-nine EWGA chapters throughout the country supported the fundraiser with tee sign purchases.
"We are proud of the work we do with the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf program and the other initiatives of the EWGA Foundation," says Joan Cavanaugh, the president of the EWGA Foundation board of directors. "From funding the development of golf education programs, supporting the future generation and offering scholarships to deserving women, the EWGA Foundation strives to ‘pay it forward’ and help more women enjoy the many benefits that golf has offered so many of us in our business and personal lives."
The EWGA Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization formed and supported by the Executive Women’s Golf Association. Its mission is to develop premier golf education and leadership development programs for women of all ages. Over the past five years, EWGA Chapters and the EWGA Foundation have donated over $300,000 to LPGA-USGA Girls Golf.
