PGA, USGA Sanctioned Program Supports Fallen Heroes Foundation, Wounded Warriors, Inc.
(KAUA’I, Hawaii) – The Kaua’i Visitors Bureau today announced that the golf courses which comprise its golf-destination co-operative –
"Kaua’i: Discover Golf’s Ultimate Island Green" – will participate in the inaugural "Patriot Golf Day" on September 1.
Supported by both the PGA of America and the United States Golf Association (USGA), public-access golf courses across the country will ask for a $1 donation in addition to each green fee they collect that day. The proceeds will benefit Wounded Warriors, Inc. and the Fallen Heroes Foundation.
"The Kaua’i golf destination courses are honored to participate in Patriot Golf Day and to help support the people who are selflessly serving our country," says Kenneth Kimura, Golf Operations Manager at Kaua’i Lagoons Golf Club. "Poipu Bay, Kaua’i Lagoons, Puakea, Kiahuna and both courses at Princeville are wholeheartedly committed to this worthwhile effort."
The Fallen Heroes Foundation will help pay for the education of children who have lost a parent in Iraq or Afghanistan.
Wounded Warriors, Inc.’s mission is to provide support to the families of those who have been wounded, injured or killed during combat operations. The organization owns family-friendly resort condominiums in Orlando, Florida and Galveston, Texas, where war-torn families can retreat to restore peace and solace to their lives after the trauma they have endured.
About "Kaua’i: Discover Golf’s Ultimate Island Green"
Kaua’i is colored by lush, numerous shades of green – flora and fauna blanket the mountains and serve as a painter’s palette and "carpet"
of nature’s unspoiled wonder. Surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Pacific Ocean and buffeted by soothing trade winds and slack key guitar notes wafting in the breeze, Kaua’i offers more than 50 miles of white sand beaches – more beach per mile than any other island in Hawai’i. Only three percent of the island is developed for commercial and residential use.
