Frankfort, Ill., Park District Adds SoloRider to Fleet To Help Golfers with Limited Mobility Get Back in the Game

CENTENNIAL, COLO. (Aug. 15, 2007) – The "best thing we did this year," according to the person in charge of golf for the Frankfort Square Park District in Frankfort, Ill., had nothing to do with lengthening the course, increasing green speeds or even adding to the food and drink selections. What Jim Randall, executive director of the Park District, is most proud of is making golf more accessible.

The Frankfort Square Park District, which manages a par-30 golf course, driving range and putting course, recently added two single-rider SoloRider golf cars to its fleet to help golfers with limited mobility get back in the game. The Park District is one of the first courses in the Frankfort area to give seniors and players with a disability full access to the course through the use of a single-rider golf car.

"We wanted to offer a positive and inexpensive golf experience to our special-needs community," said Randall. "Adding the SoloRider has enabled us to serve a population that is often underserved. It was the best thing we did this year, and I look forward to adding more SoloRiders to our fleet in the future."

The SoloRider golf car, which was presented the 2006 Excellence in Achievement Award – New Product of the Year by the Association of Private Clubs and Directors, features ergonomically designed controls and a patented seat that rotates and lifts to help players hit their shots without leaving the comfort and safety of the vehicle. The car’s even weight distribution and advanced suspension system make it safe to go on tees and greens without damaging the turf.

"There are 46 million disabled Americans, and approximately five million of them are candidates to play golf," said Roger Pretekin, president of SoloRider. "By making a single-

rider golf car available, the Frankfort Square Park District is helping golfers get back in the game, which we know provides tremendous satisfaction, and helping bring new players to the sport, which the game desperately needs."
