37th Worldwide Victory for TaylorMade Drivers in 2007
CARLSBAD, Calif. (August 20, 2007) – TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff professional Brandt Snedeker became the tenth first-time winner on the 2007 PGA Tour yesterday by capturing the PGA Tour’s Wyndham Championship, edging fellow TaylorMade-adidas Tour Staffer Tim Petrovic by two strokes in the process. Key to Snedeker’s win was his sizzling nine-under-par 63 in the final round, the lowest finish by a tournament winner on the PGA TOUR this year.
Despite his hot finish, Snedeker needed what he called the "best swing of his life," a TaylorMade r7® 3-iron to within 32 feet on the par-three 17th to setup a birdie that moved him ahead of Petrovic, who was vying to become the tenth player to win this year while using TaylorMade’s new Burner® driver.
Snedeker’s victory at Forest Oaks Country Club was also significant because it was the 37th time a player has won a worldwide Tour event in 2007 while using a TaylorMade driver. Including Snedeker and Petrovic, 63 players put a TaylorMade driver in play at the Wyndham Championship, which accounted for 40.4% of the field.
With the win, Snedeker, who earned $900,000, jumped 17 spots to No. 9 on the FedExCup points list. It was also his sixth top-10 finish of the season and makes him a top contender for PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award.
Playing an r7 425 TP driver, Snedeker tied for sixth in driving accuracy and was tied for eighth in with 24 birdies.
Also in Snedeker’s bag:
TaylorMade Rescue® club (19°)
TaylorMade r7 TP (3-PW)
