Like the Popular Burner Driver, the Burner XD Iron Incorporates Multiple Speed and Distance-Enhancing Technologies
CARLSBAD, Calif. (August 21, 2007) – TaylorMade Golf has at last made the announcement that so many golfers have been excitedly
anticipating: the introduction of a new iron, called Burner XD, that incorporates the distance-enhancing technologies that have made the Burner driver such a huge success among tour professionals and amateur golfers.
In true Burner spirit TaylorMade found every way possible to make Burner XD irons faster and longer. That includes RE*AX® SuperFast graphite shafts to promote faster swing speed for more yardage.
Likewise the ultra-large clubhead features a thin and fast titanium clubface that delivers exceptionally high COR to promote faster ball speed and more distance.
Burner XD’s titanium clubface is more than just fast, it’s also extremely forgiving thanks to TaylorMade’s Inverted Cone Technology, which is clearly visible on the backside of the clubface. ICT expands the part of the clubface that delivers high ball speed. Between that and the large and stable clubhead, Burner XD is extraordinarily forgiving and easy to hit.
Additionally, Burner XD’s titanium clubface is exceedingly light, and the saved weight is used to move the center of gravity low and deep within the clubhead. That makes it easy to launch the ball on a high, strong, long flight, promoting the kind of distance that Burner players covet. The 17-4 stainless steel clubhead and titanium clubface are joined using a method called lip encasement, a process that mechanically unites the two dissimilar materials.
"The phenomenal distance and overall performance of the Burner family of metalwoods, especially the Burner driver, has had golfers clamoring for a Burner iron," said Sean Toulon, TaylorMade executive vice president. "That’s because Burner metalwoods are so compelling, from both a performance and personality standpoint. We believed that if we applied that same Burner formula to an iron, we can deliver incredible performance. Great news. The wait is over. The new Burner XD iron is here."
TaylorMade Burner XD irons are available in 3- through 9-, pitching wedge, attack wedge, sand wedge and lob wedge. Left-handed available (except for lob wedge). Availability begins at TaylorMade’s retail partners starting on September 30, 2007, at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $138 per club with steel shaft, $168 per club with graphite shaft.
