Greensboro, Ga. (August 21, 2007) – Linger Longer Communities is pleased to announce that Reynolds Plantation has been selected the Georgia Golf Course Owners Association’s (GGCOA) Course of the Year.
The organization selected Reynolds Plantation as a golf community with its collection of five courses – Plantation, Great Waters, The National, The Oconee and the new members-only Creek Club.
The GGCOA honored Reynolds Plantation based on its world-class course designers – Bob Cupp, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Fazio, Rees Jones and Jim Engh. Formal criteria included the exceptional quality of its courses, the exceptional quality of ownership and management, outstanding contribution to the community and significant contributions to the game of golf. Reynolds Plantation will now be entered as Georgia’s nominee for the National Golf Course Owners Association’s Course of the Year.
"Reynolds Plantation meets and exceeds our criteria for course of the year," says Cindy Acree, executive director of the GGCOA. "We are proud to have Reynolds Plantation here in Georgia, and to have Reynolds represent Georgia as our nominee for National Course of the Year."
"We are honored to be chosen for this award," commented Bob Mauragas, vice president of golf operations at Reynolds Plantation. "This selection is really a testament to the whole community – golf operations, our executive staff, our employees and members all contribute to make Reynolds Plantation the top golf community in Georgia."
Reynolds Plantation and its Oconee Course will be on display September 21-23 when they host the PGA Cup, the premier international competition for PGA Professionals.
