SuperStroke Putter Grip Player Challenges For Top Position at Barclays Classic

HARRISON, NY — A highly ranked PGA Tour golfer playing the SuperStrokeâ?¢ Putter Grip was just one stroke off the lead going into Sunday’s final round of the Barclays Classic at historic Westchester Country Club.

The player, who led after the first two rounds, compensated for an errant driver in Saturday’s third round with a strong short game, including birdie putts on the 17th and 18th holes to finish at 13 under par, trailing the leader by just one stroke. For the first three rounds of the tournament, the SuperStroke player was tied for sixth in putts per round with 27.3 and ninth in putts per greens in regulation with 1.65.

After first using the SuperStroke during his win at July’s AT&T National tournament, the player has continued on a hot streak with high finishes in the British Open (eighth), PGA Championship (12th) and World Golf Championship (11th). He credits improved putting as a major factor.

"In the past, every time I finished my round there was something about my game, usually my putting, that I always felt there was something missing," he said this week. But with the SuperStroke, he said, that nagging feeling has gone away.

"It reduces the movement of your wrist, and you just use your shoulders and it just makes the ball roll better and it gives me confidence," he said. "It’s really worked well so far."

Going into the tournament, the SuperStroke user ranked fifth in FedEx Cup points, fifth on the money list, 11th in the World Golf Ranking, and seventh in scoring average. The Barclays is the first of four FedEx Cup playoff tournaments.

At more than an inch and half in diameter – twice that of a conventional putter grip – the SuperStroke "fills the hands," so the tendency to squeeze too tightly is greatly reduced. In addition, the grip’s patented, virtually taper-free design promotes even pressure in both the right and left hands. And by keeping the hands "quiet," the SuperStroke eliminates most wrist action in the putting stroke.

The SuperStroke grip is USGA- and R&A-conforming for regular play and installs in minutes on any putter. It comes with a money-back guarantee. SuperStroke is a product of Stroke Solutions, Inc., a Wisconsin-based company.
