Winners of KBC Augusta Event, Boeing Classic Among the Legions Relying on Graphite Design’s Superior Accuracy and Distance
(SAN DIEGO, California) – Graphite Design — maker of some of the most widely played graphite driver, fairway wood and hybrid shaft models on the PGA TOUR — stretched its Japan Tour dominance a step further with its 147th consecutive win in the graphite wood shaft brand count while the winners of the KBC Augusta tournament and Boeing Classic played Graphite Design shafts, according to the Darrell Survey.
At every Japan Tour event since 2002, Graphite Design has been the No. 1 graphite wood shaft brand. This week, Graphite Design easily outdistanced the field with 159 shafts in play – 52 more than the nearest competitor. The winner used the company’s shafts in his driver and 3-wood, becoming the eighth Japan Tour champion of 2007 to employ Graphite Design models. Two more top-5 finishers played Graphite Design shafts as well. Graphite Design’s Tour AD Quattro Tech – recently introduced to consumers in the United States – was the most popular graphite driver shaft at the KBC Augusta.
At the Champions Tour’s Boeing Classic, the winner used a Graphite Design model in a hybrid club throughout the three-day tournament. He emerged victorious from a record seven-man playoff with an eagle on the third extra hole.
"We’re thrilled with Graphite Design’s continuing domination on the Japan Tour, home to some of the world’s finest players, and success on the Champions Tour," said Tim Gillis, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Graphite Design. "Japan and Champions Tour professionals have long known what many other world-class players and equipment-savvy amateurs have discovered – that Graphite Design shafts deliver optimum accuracy and distance with superior feel and feedback."
In 2006, Graphite Design shafts were played by 41 winners of professional tournaments worldwide. Players using Graphite Design shafts amassed more than $90 million in PGA TOUR earnings in 2006 while the company earned more graphite wood-shaft model count victories on the PGA TOUR (16) than any other manufacturer. On the Japan Tour, Graphite Design shafts were in the bags of 18 winners in 2006 while the company extended its win streak in the wood-shaft brand count to 134 consecutive tournaments – an unprecedented string dating to 2002.
Graphite Design is the graphite shaftmaker of choice for Hank Haney, coach to the world’s top-ranked player. The company recently introduced the Tour AD Quattro Tech ultra-premium shaft in the U.S. and launched its G-TECH combination-flex custom clubmaker series of wood and iron shafts, designed for exceptional playability throughout the bag.
