UST Shafts Dominate PGA and LPGA Events

FORT WORTH, Texas — Delivering four victories in two weeks, high-performance graphite shafts by UST® (United Sports Technologies) continue to dominate the No. 1 position on the PGA and LPGA Tours.

On the PGA Tour this weekend, the Proforce® V2 graphite shaft provided superior distance and accuracy and won at the Barclays at the Westchester Country Club in Harrison, N.Y. The Barclays champion birdied four of the last five holes to earn his first Tour win since 2001 and take the FedExCup lead, playing a Titleist driver and fairway wood custom-fit with Proforce V2 graphite shafts. Meanwhile, this week’s champion on the LPGA Tour defended her title and won the Safeway Classic using a UST IROD® shaft in her hybrid club.

"The Barclays and Safeway Classic mark back-to-back victories on both the PGA and LPGA Tours for UST shafts, and we’re proud of the support we receive from the tour players," says Jim McIntosh, tour representative for UST. "We’re having a great year on the pro tours, and the innovative Proforce V2 design is clearly one of the hottest graphite shafts in golf."

The UST Proforce V2 graphite shaft provides shot-enhancing benefits and features low-torque characteristics that have received industry acclaim for optimizing performance of today’s 400cc to 460cc driver heads. The modern trend toward larger driver and fairway wood heads has increased hit-ability for many golfers, but the center of gravity (CG) of most larger clubheads is positioned further away from the center line of the shaft, a design trait which places more stress and causes more twisting on the shaft. The V2’s low torque design provides the power and control needed for today’s 400cc to 460cc heads. Also, because the low-torque V2 prevents clubheads from twisting open on impact, the V2 reduces the amount of back spin imparted onto the ball and enhances shot dispersion. In addition to the original Proforce V2, the V2 High Launch, V2 LD and V2 MOI designs fit a wide variety of swing types.

Played by some of the world’s top pros such as Jim Furyk, Davis Love III, Rod Pampling and many others, UST fielded more than 60 graphite wood shafts at The Barclays.
