Acclaimed Southwest Oklahoma Golf Course Community Continues to Evolve
(Southwest Oklahoma) – The Territory, an upscale residential community with the Top 10 ranked best-new course in America by the same name, today announces a move to 100 percent custom homes in Prospector’s Ridge – Phase I of the high-end residential development just outside Duncan and less than 90 minutes from Oklahoma City.
Initially targeted to include a mix of custom and spec homes, demand and desire led to the shift toward a completely custom development at The Territory, which is 2.5 hours north of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
"The first homes built in Prospector’s Ridge were custom designs and have really proven to be spectacular, inside and out," says The Territory General Manager Tim Johnson. "They blend seamlessly with the rolling hillsides overlooking the golf course and set the tone for the community while resonating with home buyers who are seeking a special, unique residential community."
Prospector’s Ridge remains in the early stages of development. Prices of lots available range from $62,000 to $135,000. If a similar, high-quality property like The Territory were located in the nearby Dallas-Fort Worth area it would likely cost three times as much.
Many lots have breathtaking views of the golf course and a waterfall and stream enhance outdoor entertaining or an evening of relaxation between home-sites and the putting green on the first hole. A planned walking/jogging trail will encourage a peaceful and healthy lifestyle, while a gazebo will invite family cookouts.
"The Territory is setting the high-quality standard for Southwestern Oklahoma now and for generations to come," says Rick Braught, who, along with his wife Barbara, own The Territory. "We’re building a casual yet elegant golf residential community which is family friendly, set in the unspoiled beauty of the region and designed so that our children’s children will want to live here."
"Organic architecture" themes prevail throughout The Territory – wood, windows, stone, light and natural elements highlight every structure – from the homes to the Golf House and Prairie House, where members and their guests can dine on Chef Tristan Peck’s culinary creations. Peck, who honed his skills while studying at the prestigious San Francisco School of Culinary Arts, displays his delicious dishes amongst high, sweeping ceilings and exposed stone and wood blend seamlessly into the natural setting as light pours into the space from the picture windows above.
The Territory golf course has received national acclaim since its unveiling nearly three years ago. The Randy Heckenkemper design – stretching to 7,100 yards from the tips – was recently rated No. 10 in Oklahoma by Golf Digest raters (America’s Greatest Courses State by State 2007-08) and was ranked No. 10 nationally on Golfweek’s "Top 50 Best New Courses" list in 2006. Other Top 10 ranked courses included Bandon Trails and Trump National.
Though in its relative infancy, The Territory has hosted the Oklahoma State Amateur, Senior State Amateur and an NCAA Division II Super Regional. In 2008, the Adams Golf Pro Tour Series will bring the Halliburton Southwest Oklahoma Championship to the club. With generous landing areas and spacious greens, the course offers exceptional playability, but challenges the best players with undulating terrain and native vegetation framing the fairways.
