Frederick, MDâ?¦ The Frederick County Commission for Women, FCCFW, announced that they will host the Third Annual Frederick Women’s Golf O.P.E.N. (Offering Philanthropy Education & Networking) on Thursday, October 4th, 2007 at the Musket Ridge Golf Course in Myersville, MD. Proceeds from the event will support the FCCFW’s mentoring project and other programs to benefit women and families in Frederick County.
"This year’s tournament will be even more exciting than previous years, with a Beginner’s Golf Academy, Champagne Reception, ‘Splendor Stations,’ goodie bags, a $5,000 putting contest and a fun and relaxing dinner to top off the day," said Darby Jones, FCCFW President. "The Beginner’s Academy was added because many women want to participate in the event, but are not golfers or are not confident about their skills," added Jones. The academy will feature Larry Ringer, who was named "Senior Play of the Year" by the Mid-Atlantic PGA. As in past years, the tournament welcomes women of all golfing abilities.
The fitness and beauty Splendor Stations are sponsored by the Golden Orchid Salon & Spa, the Sylvana Institute for Aesthetic Medicine and IN-Fit Studio.
Each golfer will receive a "goodie bag" filled with special gifts, a picnic box lunch compliments of Drees Homes, a "19th Hole" Champagne Reception compliments of T.A. Culbertson, M.D., Plastic Surgery, and dinner compliments of Farmers & Mechanics Bank/PNC. And once again a king will be crowned from among the "golf guys" who volunteer to raise money on the course by providing fun and creative services on various tee boxes.
Morningstar Design, Inc. is the sponsor of the Putting Contest and Arbonne International, The Nicole Knight Region and www.WaveOfWellness.com are sponsoring beverage stations with creative drinks.
In addition, as part of the FCCFW’s on-going efforts to educate women on health issues, there will be an array of health booths and screenings with information that is important to women and their families. These include: Frederick Memorial Healthcare System’s Wellness Center; the Frederick County Health Department; the Anne-Lynn Gross Breast Cancer Resource Center; the Frederick County Mental Health Association; the Frederick County Department of Aging; Frederick Memorial Hospital Coordinated Breast Services; and the Frederick County Arthritis Foundation.
Registration and the box lunch begin at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. To register or for more information, visit the FCCFW website at www.co.fred.md.us/fccfw or call Darby Jones at 301-471-0058 or darbyjoneslaw@gmail.com, Betsy Pakenas at 301-663-8833, elizabeth.b.pakenas@smithbarney.com.
