LENEXA, KANSAS (Sept. 6, 2007) — Tiger Woods looks set to claim the first $10 million prize in golf’s history after his second place finish in this past weekend’s Deutsche Bank Championship.
And for the very first time, Rudy Duran, the golf coach who helped develop the world’s number one in his formative years as a young child, is coming to the UK to talk about how children can aspire to becoming top-class golfers.
Young Masters Golf – responsible for introducing more than 50,000 youngsters to the game of golf in the UK and Ireland – is inviting media to attend Rudy’s first UK visit at The Bristol GC, on Thursday, September 13, from 11am in association with junior club specialist’s, Accu-Length, The Only Expandable Junior Golf Club.
Rudy Duran coached Tiger between the ages of four and 10, and along with his father Earl, who passed away last year, is credited with setting Woods on the path to world domination.
Rudy will be meeting many of YMG’s accredited club professionals, who teach youngsters the fundamentals of the game through a highly- innovative training program, devised by YMG founder Dave Gosling, who will also be available to answer questions.
The media will be able to talk to Rudy Duran about his views on how youngsters – and older golfers alike – can aspire to become better golfers at a specially-arranged press conference.
His visit is being sponsored by OnTrack Sports, the makers of Accu- Length Expandable Junior Golf Clubs- manufacturers of award-winning golf clubs tailored to the needs of juniors, with sets that can be lengthened as the child grows. YMG endorse the Kansas-based company’s product in the UK and Ireland. Rudy Duran is a worldwide ambassador for Accu-Length.
There will also be a chance to photograph and film Rudy – author of the book In Every Kid There Lurks a Tiger – giving lessons to some juniors from the Bristol area in the early afternoon.
Editors are invited to send a reporter and photographer to The Bristol GC – a timetable for the day and directions will be issued early next week. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
