Orlando, Fla., (Sept. 4, 2007) – TurfNet.com, a mainstay for superintendents worldwide since 1995, today debuts a new design that showcases its exclusive online video channel for the golf course maintenance industry, TurfNet TV, while incorporating improved functionality for its public and member-only areas alike.
The redesign, overseen by TurfNet founder Peter McCormick, introduced a prominent news section at the top of the Web site’s home page.
"As a media company, our niche always has been to deliver important news first to our audience, and putting the kinds of news stories on our Web site that we’ve traditionally published in our magazine is one way we’ll continue to maintain our news leadership position," said publisher Dale Gardner.
TurfNet.com is the industry’s No. 1 job site, offers a major used equipment marketplace and has members-only areas that have attracted 1,600 paying superintendents. A January BPA audit showed the site attracted 33,000 unique visitors who logged more than 620,000 page views.
"We’ll also be using the newest technologies available to deliver unique content, such as online video through TurfNet TV," explained Gardner.
TurfNet TV launched at the Golf Industry Show in February and already features more than 110 video segments with total views of more than 100,000.
"We have a variety of programming, but we will focus on two important topics for superintendents: research and equipment," said McCormick. "With both, online video is exceptionally useful. It’s much easier to have a research scientist explain his findings on camera than to read an article of several thousand words on the subject. Plus, equipment news and demonstrations are ideally suited for video. And Randy Wilson’s humor pieces have been a huge hit."
Wilson, a columnist for TurfNet, the Magazine, applies his dry wit and knowledge of the industry to segments depicting the travails of superintendents. One of his videos has been viewed more than 11,000 times.
Advertisers will have an opportunity to promote their products with standard Internet Advertising Bureau ad units, as well as with 15- and 30-second commercials and short-form promotional videos.
