Southlake, Texas- HorsePower Sports Marketing (HSM), the governing body over the 2008 Horsepower Tee Shot Tour, is proud to announce a dynamic field of entrants into the upcoming qualifying event to be held on September 17, 2007 at Cabarrus Country Club in Concord, North Carolina. Thirty-four players have been accepted into the event with the Top 4 finishers qualifying to join Kevin Bullard, Brooks Baldwin, Vince Howell, and Danny Luirette to form the 2008 HorsePower Tee Shot Tour team. The 2008 HorsePower Tee Shot Tour will consist of six "Power Golf" events with HTST team members partnering with Sprint Cup personalities in these unique competitions.
As for the September 17th qualifier, HSM President John Mamoudis had these thoughts: "We are thrilled to have such an outstanding array of Power Hitters compete in Concord next week. The resumes of this group speak for themselves. To have world champion long drivers such as Sean "The Beast" Fister, Gerry James, Carl Wolter, and David Mobley bring their potent action over to our new game is exciting. But do not be fooled, the talent is deep and we can look down the entrants list and immediately spot plenty of players with firepower who will have an excellent chance to make this team. This should be power-packed action throughout the day."
The event will consist of three rounds of hitting for each player. Each round will consist of seven tee shots for a total of twenty-one balls per player for the tournament. The competition grid will be placed within the fairway of the Par 5, 1st Hole at Cabarrus Country Club. Scoring will be based on not only distance, but accuracy as well. On this new format, Pat Dempsey, Director of Player Personnel, responds, "The dynamics of this game are so very interesting. Obviously distance is mandatory, but the ball placement, shot maneuverability, and strategy will be so important. The goal is to make this team and even with this exceptional group of players, there are going to be some very good hitters going home. I can’t wait to get started."
Competition begins at 9:00am on Monday, September 17th. There will be media accommodations throughout the day. If interested in attending, please contact Mark Stafford, V.P. Sales and Marketing, at 817-552-3515 or mstafford@horsepowersm.com.
