(Markham, Ontario) – Trend-setting designer Ralph Dunning announces that staff players Kyle Thompson, a rising star on the Nationwide Tour, and Zach Johnson, the 2007 Masters champion, recorded first and second place finishes, respectively, this past weekend while competing in complete playing systems from Dunning Golf luxury performance apparel.
Thompson eagled the 18th hole during regulation play Sunday at the Oregon Classic in Junction City to force a three-way playoff. The 28-year-old birdied two holes in sudden death to claim his second Nationwide Tour victory and moved from No. 27 to No. 7 on the money list, all but guaranteeing himself a 2008 PGA Tour card.
Johnson continued his outstanding season by tying for second place behind Tiger Woods at the PGA Tour Championship in Atlanta, Georgia. The 31-year-old shot a 60 on Saturday and ended the tournament at 15-under-par. His runner-up finish moved him from No. 12 to No. 7 in the inaugural FedEx Cup.
Both Thompson and Johnson relied on Dunning Golf’s proprietary fabric technologies and player-specific fits to help them perform in temperatures that ranged from low-50s to mid-80s. Game-enhancing features of the brand’s premium performance apparel include increased airflow, moisture wicking, breathability, permanent moisture management, muscle support, UV protection and next-to-skin comfort.
"Our staff players continue to perform at the highest level, and we work closely with them to ensure they look and feel great on the course," says Dunning, the company’s founder and principal designer. "It’s been a tremendous year and we are extremely proud of Kyle and Zach’s success."
Dunning Golf is found at prestigious on-course shops throughout North America, such as Coppinwood Golf Club, Dallas National Golf Club, Hazeltine National Golf Club, Isleworth Country Club, Ritz Carlton Golf Club (Jupiter, FL), Sherwood Country Club, Southern Highlands Golf Club, Wynn Las Vegas, Trump National and Vaquero Club. The line is also available at Canada’s premier golf retailer, Golf Town.
