Hannahville Indian Community Resort Collects Praise In and Out of Casino

(HARRIS, Michigan) – The Island Resort & Casino today announces Midwest Gaming and Travel magazine readers have bestowed "best-of" recognition on the resort.
The categories in which the Island Resort & Casino took top honors included:
â?¢ Favorite casual restaurant
â?¢ Best early bird bingo
â?¢ Best bingo packages
â?¢ Most comfortable bingo hall
â?¢ Best bingo jackpots
â?¢ Best poker tournaments
â?¢ Best RV park
"We’re honored to receive accolades from the Midwest Gaming & Travel readers," says General Manager Thomas McChesney. "Our guests are top priority here at the Island Resort & Casino and to have them vote for us means we’re not only meeting, but exceeding their needs."
Owned and operated by the Hannahville Indian Community, the resort recently unveiled the luxurious, new Palm Tower and will introduce the 18-hole, Paul Albanese-designed championship Sweetgrass Golf Course in the summer of 2008. An aromatic herb, Sweetgrass is used in Indian peace and healing rituals and is found along the course.
The course itself has five sets of tees and ranges between 5,000 and 7,300 yards and features an island green, a pair of majestic waterfalls and will pay homage to Potawatomi tribal legend on each hole. An "eternal flame" between the first and 10th tees will pay homage to the tribe, known as the Keepers of the Fire.
The Palm Tower adds 162 spacious, well-appointed rooms and luxurious penthouse suites to the existing Sun Tower’s 113 rooms. When complete, the Palm Tower will boast 210 rooms, bringing the Upper Peninsula resort’s total to more than 320.
In addition to the Palm Tower, the resort recently introduced the 1,327-seat Island Showroom to host national acts, expanded the gaming floor with an additional 500 slot machines and opened Club Four One nightclub and the Beachcomber Restaurant & Bar.
