New York, NY—Walter Iooss Jr. has been named Photographer-at-Large for Golf Digest, it was announced today by Jerry Tarde, Chairman and Editor-In-Chief of Golf Digest. He will be shooting golf and golfers exclusively for the magazine.
"We are thrilled that Walter Iooss will be joining the Golf Digest team," said Tarde. "Walter brings over 40 years of experience shooting some of the most memorable photographs in the history of sports. I am looking forward to adding his remarkable talent to the covers and pages of Golf Digest."
Mr. Iooss will continue to shoot photographs for Sports Illustrated, the publication that helped launch his career in 1961. Some of his most notable accomplishments include having his images appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated over 300 times, being the lead photographer for multiple Sports Illustrated swimsuit issues (including taking the famous "Fishnet" photograph of Cheryl Tiegs in Brazil in 1978), and photographing 40 consecutive Super Bowls from 1967 to 2006.
In addition to his work with Sports Illustrated, Mr. Iooss has co-created several best-selling books featuring his photographs, including "Rare Air: Michael on Michael," authored by Michael Jordan; "Junior: Griffey on Griffey," authored by Ken Griffey Jr.; "Ripken: Cal on Cal," authored by Cal Ripken Jr.; and "Classic Golf: The Photographs of Walter Iooss Jr.," authored by Sports Illustrated Senior Writer Rick Reilly.
In 2004, Mr. Iooss was honored with a LUCIE award for "Outstanding Achievement in Sports Photography."
Mr. Iooss resides with his wife in Montauk, NY and Key Biscayne, FL.
