Cobra ambassador Camilo Villegas captures Tokai Classic for first win as professional
Cobra Staff Player Camilo Villegas earned his first professional victory in dramatic fashion, rolling in a 20-foot putt for birdie on the second hole of sudden death to win the Coca-Cola Tokai Classic on the Japan Tour. The 25-year-old Columbian shot a final round even par 71 to finish at 2-under 282 overall – one of only three players to finish under par for the week. Villegas, who tied for third at the event last year, finished in the top five in several key stats, including birdies (T2) and greens in regulation (T5). Also, among the 108 players, he was tied for seventh in driving accuracy and 11th in driving distance.
In only his second full year on the PGA Tour, Camilo saved his best for last, earning top 10 finishes in four of his final six PGA Tour events, including the inaugural FedEx Cup Playoffs. Beginning at the Deutsche Bank Championship, Camilo finished in the top 10 in the final three playoff events, a distinction he shared with only three other players.
