Philadelphia Woman to be Honored for Volunteer Service at Association Conference
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL, October 12, 2007 — The Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) has named Cindy McGeever of Haverford, Pennsylvania as the 2007 recipient of the Nancy Oliver Founder’s Award presented by Reynolds Plantation. She will receive the award, the organization’s highest honor for its volunteer leaders, during the Saturday evening Gala Awards Banquet at EWGA’s Conference being held at Amelia Island Plantation Resort in Amelia Island, Fla. on October 31 through November 3, 2007.
Named after EWGA founder Nancy Oliver, the Nancy Oliver Founder’s Award presented by Reynolds Plantation was started in 2000 to annually recognize a EWGA member who has displayed exceptional long-term leadership and service to the organization. McGeever, president of DerrJones, Inc., a retained executive search firm specializing in sales recruitment and talent assessment, exemplifies that dedication to the EWGA. In addition to her search practice, she owns www.top-sales-jobs.com , a leading recruiting website for sales professionals.
Spanning over a decade of EWGA volunteer service, McGeever has been the president of the Greater Philadelphia EWGA chapter, an EWGA sectional and regional director and served on the association board of directors for five years, including as its president in 2002-2003. For the past three years, she has been the co-chair of the committee for the EWGA Foundation’s annual "EWGA at the U.S. Women’s Open" charity event to benefit the USGA-LPGA Girls Golf program.
"Volunteer leadership is the backbone of our organization," says Pam Swensen, CEO of the EWGA. "It is because of the thousands of women like Cindy who give freely of their time and talents that the EWGA continues to thrive. They share a passion for the game and provide the welcoming environment that attracts and keeps more women playing golf."
