ROANOKE, TEXAS (Oct. 16) – Golf prodigy MacKinzie "Mac" Kline, spokesperson for Children’s Miracle Network and former patient at a Children’s Miracle Network hospital, will hit the ceremonial first drive at the Saturday evening (October 27) finals of the 2007 RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship, Long Drivers of America (LDA) announced today.
LDA designated Children’s Miracle Network as its charity of choice in 2006.
"We’re deeply honored to have Mac Kline hit the first ball at the Saturday night finals in Mesquite [Nevada]," said Art Sellinger, LDA chief executive officer. "She’s a miracle child who combines a great golf game with a million-watt personality. Her story has inspired countless people across the United States and beyond."
The California teenager, who carries a 1-handicap and who has won numerous age-group junior golf titles, recently surpassed $1 million in contributions that support research into congenital heart defects. Kline has set a personal goal to reach $2 million in her fundraising by June 2008. She also serves as the national spokesperson for The Children’s Heart Foundation.
