Charlotte New Number One Team
NEW YORK, NY—The third Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches’ Poll of the fall season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II, III and the NAIA, will appear in the October 19 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now at www.golfworld.com.
Charlotte replaces Stanford as the number one team, earning 11 of the 22 first-place votes. The 49ers have won all three of their tournaments this season, including a victory at this week’s event, The Prestige. The Cardinal has dropped to the ninth spot. Rounding out the top-five are Alabama (No. 2), Oklahoma State (No. 3), Georgia Tech (No. 4) and Georgia (No. 5).
South Carolina (No. 8) is responsible for the biggest jump, moving up 14 spots after being ranked No. 22 in the previous coaches’ poll. Auburn (No. 12), Chattanooga (No. 16), Penn State (No. 20), Texas Tech (No. 21), Oregon State (No. 22), UAB (No. 23) and Pepperdine (No. 24) have all moved into the top-25.
