Hatters to Battle Teams from Florida and Beyond
(DELAND, Fla.) – Victoria Hills Golf Club – the award-winning Ron Garl design located in Victoria Park, a St. Joe community in DeLand – will host the Stetson Invitational men’s and women’s golf tournaments, November 5-6.
Nine men’s and nine women’s teams will compete in 54-hole events, with teams playing 36 holes on day one followed by an 18-hole finale. Five players will compete for each college, with the low four scores from each round counting toward the team score.
Competing on the men’s side will be the host Stetson University Hatters, Bethune-Cookman University, Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Rollins College, South Carolina State, the University of South Carolina Upstate and Creighton University. The men will play from Victoria Hills’ 6,989-yard back tees, which have hosted a U.S. Open and U.S. Senior Open Qualifier.
On the women’s side, Stetson will be joined in the field by defending champion Daytona Beach Community College, Jacksonville University, Florida Southern, Bethune-Cookman, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, South Carolina State and South Carolina Upstate. The women will compete from the 6,065-yard blue tees.
Victoria Hills is the home course for the Stetson golf program and began hosting the tournament in 2003-04.
